The Rosie Chapter Family
18 weeks ago I thought of myself as “just a blogger”..... I am a retired army combat veteran, mother, military spouse, mental health advocate, fighter, friend living with PTSD, anxiety and depression. The tribe that I have found within the THE ROSIE NETWORK has been much more than I could have ever imagined. The women are inspiring, motivating and life saving. I am so grateful for Stephanie Brown and the rest of the amazing women who showed up, provided knowledge and opened u

Make today count
Y’all....it’s been an emotional two months. I am constantly reminded of how grateful I need to be of the people, places and things that I am surrounded by. I have amazingly tough kids that keep me on my toes daily. I have people that have been brought into my life by the grace of God. I am in a location where I am afforded so many opportunities. It’s definitely been a wild ride but we are alive. Although I still have some good and bad days, I am still aware of what I have. It

Football Season
Proud football momma right here. This time last year when Blaze was just starting his football season, his sister was recovering and I was still in the hospital. By the time I was out, I was in a wheelchair and barely able to sit long enough to watch him play. This year, I am was able to drive there and stand the whole time. It was a great feeling being able to stand and to see him on the field. He didn’t get to see me until the end of the game. He didn’t think that I was goi

Why woman veterans are more likely than civilian to commit suicide
I’m not going to lie....the first full day of retirement was rough. Some may say they couldn’t wait or they were relieved...not me. I felt lost, like I lost a piece of myself, my identify. I didn’t know how to live a “normal” life. This article hurt my heart but I absolutely resonated with it. As the days got closer to the inevitable retirement date, I started to feel so lost, useless, worthless and like a complete failure. I know that those feelings may seem extreme but they

Happy Life-aversary
I couldn’t have said it better myself.... On this date one year ago as I was driving my daughter to college, we were involved in one of the most traumatic car accidents of our life. She missed her first semester of college as a freshman. Instead she spent her time going through physical therapy to learn how to walk again. She has a permanent titanium rod in her left leg. I spent 5 weeks in a hospital going through multiple surgeries all on my left side. The whole time I cried

The boy
It’s that time of year when all the kids need to get their sports physicals done along with immunizations. Somehow this kid grew 2 inches within the past few months. He can still eat everything in this house and is getting stronger by the minute. The boy has been through one hell of a year. It’s really tough to be a military brat and be the last one in the house while his big sister is away at college. This life ain’t easy. Not one bit. We are surviving and we are going to ma

Peace out!
Let me begin with this...the other day I posted with my middle finger in the air. It may have offended some people. I told you that I was gonna be real and honest. I try not to use curse words and try to be clean. Soo, sorry ? I’ll try and done it down 🤷🏻♀️ Now let’s start again 👇🏼 Peace out to the negativity in my life. The one where it starts to make me feel about myself. Those feelings that I am not good enough. Nope. No more. Don’t ever let yourself get to that point

Inspire
When I was trying to choose words from the @raedunn @raedunnclay collection there was a few that came to mind. Along with strength, brave and fighter to name a few this one also hit the feels. One of my good friends said the word inspire was a no brainer. That touched my heart. I have been inspired by so many that when I do leave this earth l, I want to leave a legacy for my children. I want them to know that I truly did try to inspire others. When we were given a second (or

What YOU want
How many times have you second guess yourself ? How many of those times was it because you were unsure of other people’s opinions or reactions. Have you ever stopped to think that maybe the only one you really needed to impress was yourself? I am so guilty of this. I spent too much time focused on the wrong thing. It’s really not about them, it is about me. In the end I am the one who has overcame so many obstacles to get here and I am damn near impressed with myself. So, go

Take that!
Warning - you may be offended ... Because sometimes life just sucks. Because sometimes there just isn’t an answer. Because sometimes being an adult is so over rated. Take that life. Take it and shove it. I have three words for you — I. Don’t. Wanna. I’m getting headache from all the bull that is being thrown at me. Stop being so nice. Stop being so naive. Stop doing things that you will end up regretting. Yes, I’ll get over it. But for now..This. ☝🏼 . . . #youknowwhoyouare #

You made it !
It’s Friday and we made it through the first few days of May 👊🏼. I’ve been taking some much needed “me” time. I’ve been focusing on writing the book, networking, talking about the hard truths and just being grateful for my tribe. As we dive deeper into May let us remember all those who are suffering from mental health. It is not easy to choose to live with it. It takes a lot of hard days to have a good one. It took me years to be ok with it. I had choices but thankfully God

Happy 3rd Birthday to my furry best friend
Happy 3rd birthday to my very best furry friend Lulu. I can’t believe that just three years ago your human grandpa gave you to me. I never knew how much I needed you until then. To say that you have saved my life and continue to do so is an understatement. Even though you are spoiled rotten, sassy and independent (just like my own human children 😂), you always know when I need you. God has certainly filled my life with so much love and I am so grateful. Thank you for choosin

Being a Mentor
All. The. Feels. If you didn’t already know, I am a mentor with @we.are.veterati and I absolutely LOVE it. Being able to give back is such a heart warming feeling. Through out my time in service, I have had mentors in those who I never expected it from. They were my battles. They were my Soldiers. They were my tribe. I may not be perfect or the best BUT I will stand by you 💯! I will encourage you and cheer you on. I will also give you honest feedback. Thank you to this sweet

Veteran’s Story Project
It seems so long when I created this Facebook page. It is still a part of my mission and my heart. I have not forgotten. I would love for you to be a part of it in any shape or form. If you have stories to tell please message me or go to the page and post away. I do this for all of us who either are suffering or who are learning to live with mental illness. Thank you to those who have stuck around. Our story isn’t over yet. . . . #veteransstoryproject #armyvet #armylife #mono
